Home remedies for vitiligo

Introductory summary
No home remedy repigments vitiligo - sun protection, gentle skin, camouflage and stress care are the real home care.
No home remedy has been proven to repigment vitiligo patches - the honest role of home care is protecting the skin, supporting treatment, and not making things worse.
What home care CAN usefully do:
- Sun protection: white patches have no melanin and burn quickly. Daily sunscreen (SPF 30+) on patches, plus hats and covered clothing, prevents burns - and sunburn can trigger new patches. Protecting surrounding skin from tanning also reduces contrast.
- Gentle skin habits: avoid injuries, harsh scrubbing, tight friction and chemical exposure where possible, because injured skin can develop new patches.
- Camouflage: cosmetic camouflage creams and concealers are a legitimate, safe way to reduce visible contrast - many people find this transforms daily confidence while treatment proceeds.
- General health: a balanced diet, adequate sleep and stress management support immune health generally; stress is a reported trigger for flares in some people.
Popular home applications - the honest verdict: turmeric paste, mustard oil mixtures, neem, babchi (bakuchi) oil, copper-vessel water and similar remedies have no proven repigmenting effect. Bakuchi specifically is photosensitizing and causes burns and blistering when misused at home. Irritant applications can injure skin and trigger new patches - a real, documented harm.
What to never apply: undiluted essential oils, bleach or 'skin lightening' ideas in reverse, unknown fairness-style creams (many contain potent steroids that thin skin and worsen matters), and anything that stings, burns or blisters.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive): traditional home practice offers many external applications for white patches within an interpretive framework of limited evidence; the safety cautions above apply to all of them. Home care complements, never replaces, medical treatment.
Remember: sun protection, gentle skin, camouflage when wanted, stress care - that is real home care. No paste or oil is proven to bring colour back, and harsh applications create new patches. Treat with a dermatologist, protect at home.
