Ayurvedic treatment for warts

Introductory summary
Ayurvedic kshara is controlled chemical burning - a supervised option for selected warts, never for face, genitals or home use.
Ayurveda offers treatments for warts (charmakeela), and it is important to be straight about both their nature and their risks before choosing them.
What classical treatment involves. The mainstay is kshara karma - application of alkaline caustic preparations made from plant ashes - along with herbal pastes and internal medicines. Kshara is essentially a chemical cautery: it destroys the wart by controlled burning, the same end-point as modern acids and cautery.
The honest risk assessment. Caustic applications - whether Ayurvedic kshara, over-the-counter acid, or home remedies like garlic or lime - share the same dangers when used without training: chemical burns to surrounding skin, scarring, infection, and worsened spread if the wart is incompletely destroyed and irritated. Face and genitals multiply these risks. Genital warts must never be treated with any caustic application outside a medical setting.
What evidence exists: rigorous trials of Ayurvedic wart treatment are limited. Some kshara studies report clearance rates comparable to other destructive methods, but standardization and safety data are thin. The same immune clearance that removes most warts naturally (about half within a year) accounts for some 'cures' credited to any therapy.
Sensible integration: for a stubborn common wart, a qualified practitioner applying kshara carefully is one of several destructive options - with scarring risk understood. For the face, genitals, children, and anyone with diabetes or poor immunity, modern dermatology offers more controlled choices (cryotherapy, precise salicylic regimens, minor procedures).
Never let any treatment delay evaluation of a growth that bleeds, ulcerates or changes - wart look-alikes include skin cancers.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive): kshara karma is the classical destructive treatment for charmakeela within an interpretive framework of limited evidence - a supervised option for selected warts, never a casual home experiment, and never for genital growths.
Remember: kshara = controlled chemical burning - a practitioner-grade technique with real scarring risk. Face, genitals, children and diabetics belong with a dermatologist. Changing or bleeding growths get examined, not treated.
